This is the piece that the rod hanging down connects to.
Using this extension prevents the rod from connecting to your carb at an extreme angle.
Usually there is a short extension on one carb's down rod (3-4 side) and a longer extension on the other carb's (1-2 side) down rod, as shown here.
It just depends on the style of linkage kit you have.
This extension is 1 1/16" long.
Common in kits for 40-44 HPMX/IDF and 34 EPC/ICT
