Determine your VW's engine size
Part number:
findsize
Description:
If you have your doubts as to the size of an engine you have and you want to KNOW the actual size, there's only 1 way to find out.
Take the head off of either side.
Bring one piston up to top dead center.
Measure the distance from the top of the cylinder to the top of the piston that is at BOTTOM dead center.
If it is 69mm as the one pictured is, you have a stock stroke crank.
Next, measure across the opening of the same cylinder.
If it measures 91.93mm as the one pictured does, your engine is an 1835cc.
Now, clean it all up and bolt it back together.
The engine we are working on has long rods, so there's very little deck on it.
Deck is the distance between the top of the piston at TOP dead center and the top of the cylinder.
