The body of the valve (part# 17-2928) has METRIC threads (10 x 1.0 bubble flare), just like your brake lines on your bug.
This 2 psi valve is the popular choice for use with disc brakes.
The 7 1/2" line allows for a relatively easy install right out of the m/cyl on your vw.
Generally a brake fluid residual pressure valve is used to keep a minimum constant line pressure to help eliminate excessive pedal travel and create a much firmer & responsive pedal feel.
This is made from color coded billet aluminum.
Marked for easy identification and in-line mounting using standard metric brake line threads (10 x 1.0). You can thread your metal vw lines into this.
