end play rules when choosing flywheel shims

Part number:
eprfs
Description:
here's a note to consider when setting end play:
You must use 3 shims to get end play

Use bug shims when assembling a bug crank/flywheel (they bolt on with 1 gland nut)
Use bus shims when assembling a type 4 crank/flywheel (they bolt on with 5 bolts)

You do this by either:
1) having the right shims and flywheel

2) or by shaving an extra 1 or 2 thousands off of the shim contact surface of the flywheel AND having the right shims

3) or ONLY if you have a 4 dowel crank/flywheel combination, you could use a metal gasket (our part# unk metal) to create more space for the proper shim combination

4) or ONLY if you have an 8 dowel crank/flywheel combination, you could use a paper gasket (our part# 4034each) to create more space for the proper shim combination

Doghouse prefers .0035 play

If flywheel play is too much (more than .003-.0035) use thicker shims to close the gap

If flywheel play is too little (.001-.0025) replace thick shims with thinner shims to enlarge the play

Ideal play is .003-.0035 @ minimum 150 foot pounds of torque (initial test reading setup torque).
