Description:
Short reach (common on bugs) 14mm spark plug helicoil thread repair kit.
Empi packaged.
KD type, solid, one piece, 7/16" inserts.
It is recommended that the head be removed to install these.
You must have the 16 x 1.5 tap to cut the threads for this helicoil to work.
IF YOU DON'T REMOVE THE HEADS TO DO THIS:You should have a strong vacuum to suck the shavings out as you tap, so debris doesn't fall in the cylinder.
You should also have some green loctite to use when installing this kind of helicoil or it WILL come out EVERY time you unscrew your spark plug.
The permanent fix is to have an actual wire wound steel insert installed. See HeliCoil's kit 5523-14 (not sold on our site) for repairing the vw cylinder heads. This is the only type helicoil Doghouse uses.
