Engineered & designed to twist or spool up like a torsion bar to avoid damage to the transmission final drive & to keep the axle from snapping under extreme or race loads.

This 4340 chromoly pair of IRS race axles (33 splines) is Empi packaged.
This set is for you if: you have a bug tranny with bug or bus flanges & cv's, bug style trailing arms with bug or bus stubs & bug or bus cv's.
Stock vw axles are 16 3/8" long, so these give you a tad more travel before binding.
Because of the long splined areas on these axles, it is easy enough to send them out and have some trimmed off the length and a new retaining ring groove cut, if you want to shorten the overall length.
