Description:
oil pump for flat cam gear combination & 8mm stud holes 1300-1500cc through 1970. Also used in many hi-perf applications through 2332cc's.
Hi-volume, cast iron, 16mm thick.
Empi made & packaged.
Comes with both gaskets needed for installation & 4 long studs to install this.
These gears are 38% larger (30mm thick) than stock gears in stock pumps.
This pump is compatible with stock and high performance cams with flat cam gears.
If you want to plug the 'out' side of this pump because you're going to have a full flow set up, you'll need to buy part# 493204 which is a 3/8" npt allen plug. Then drill & tap the pump 'out' port for the plug.
Caution: Anytime a large geared or brand new oil pump is installed in an air cooled vw engine, it is likely that you will experience higher oil pressures than you had before. Exactly how high depends on the circumstances or condition of the engine or it's build. It is possible that the pressure will be higher than expected and modifications will be needed to lower the pressure to acceptable levels. Consult your favorite vw mechanic for advice on this subject.
